Apex Class Destroyer DD-91
The Apex class has a remarkably low draft which makes it ideal for combat near the coast (or near icebergs and ice flows). It is extremely quiet and features a stealthy, angular shape and is covered with an advanced marine stealth coating. The helipad can hold one full-size helicopter or 2 unmanned helos. The hangar holds an additional 2 unmanned helicopters or 1 full size chopper. For on deck storage of aircraft, a stealth coated cover ,which has been compared to the top of a convertible automobile, is extended to ensure stealth is maintained. An included Pioneer III UAV can be launched an recovered from the flight deck by a rail and arrestor system. It can be armed with one stinger missile, 5 unguided rockets and one TOW-3 missile, and a 15.5mm (or .50 cal) machine gun with an attached M-49 automatic grenade launcher, but its primary purpose is spotting, recon and electronic jamming. The Apex Class also features composite armor plating on the hull, deck and superstructure.
